There's more way of gold-making which can be solely done by sitting in one of the faction capitals. And this time, we are not talking about flipping.
General advice
Golds are made by the simple fact, that sometimes, paying for items is way more comfortable than getting it yourself. Players don't have enough play-time, are lazy, bored by getting simple items, don't know where else to buy it, or they simply count the time spending by getting the items themselves compared to golds they can earn by their usual way of playing the game.
Reselling from vendors
Vendors offer many items, sometimes, we can even say, treasures when we are talking about reselling them on AH.
1. Trading goods
However silly it can sound, there are players who don't know where to buy basic items needed for professions. Items like the blacksmithing hammer, fishing rod, copper rod, dyes, skinning knife etc. And that leads to the fact, that an item bought for a few copper or silver can be sold for hundreds of golds on Auction house.
2. Recipes
Another item of interest are recipes and items sold, again, by vendors in a limited amount. Those items, once bought off, can have up to several hours of the respawn, so we can call them 'harder to get' as not everyone has time or mood to camp those recipes if they are not there when they arrive.
3. White and gray armor and weapons
This is mostly applicable for roleplay reams. WoW as a game is mainly about heroes in the shiny magical armor, so finding something low-toned for roleplaying a casual citizen of the city can be quite a challenge when searching in appearances.
Vendors sell many various armor and weapons which can fit this demand pretty well and their price can go up to tens of thousands golds.
4. BOE - binds on equip
Green or higher items for transmogs. There are not many, but here and there, you can find some that can be sold for some nice price.
As you see, there are some impressive golds which can be earned by those simple ways.
